New year, New Substack! [ACTION NEEDED]
In this update you will read about some changes I've been working on for how this substack and its mailing list is set up!
Happy new year, good people!
I will write more about what happened during the holidays some time soon, but I want to give you all a heads up that I have made some changes about how this substack is set up, and use this opportunity to ask you to update your preferences to make sure you only receive emails that you’re most interested in.
PROBLEM: the problem that I wanted to solve was that the content I’ve been writing and sending out every week were very wide ranging touching on AI, health, startup lessons etc. But if I’m honest, I doubt if all of you are as excited as I am about all these topics. So, I wanted to find a way to decouple of these, and make it easier to only receive what’s most relevant to you.
Some people also pointed out that sometimes they want to find say something I wrote about health but since it’s buried inside a post that’s mostly about LLMs, it makes the heuristics unnecessarily complicated.
SOLUTION: Substack allows creating “sections” and assigning each post to a particular “section”. This way at least browsing access is very straightforward.
So, I went ahead and created these sections and decomposed each (all?) of my previous posts into a few independent and focused posts and put them under the right section. It is a bit of work-in-progress to get it all right, but you can see the logic and organization, hopefully.
CATCH: now the issue is that I have been collecting all my writings into one post and therefore one weekly email update, and if going forward I keep them all separated then it will be 2-5 posts a week and therefore 2-5 emails a week. I wish Substack allowed a “weekly digest” type of notification, but it doesn’t!
ACTION NEEDED: instead of weekly digest, it does allow you to unsubscribe from specific “sections”. Here is what I would like you to do now:
Go to the home page and poke around a bit to get a sense of what each section will contain.
Scroll down to the bottom of this email and click on “unsubscribe”
You should see a page like the one below where you can choose which “sections” you are interested in and which ones you aren’t.
If in doubt about a section, I would suggest leaving it as “subscribed” and once you receive a few emails from that section you can decide if that’s worth your while or not.
Voila! done!
